At Chalk Creatives, we have a specialist construction team that is well-versed in working on protected buildings and heritage-listed buildings in areas of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). We understand the unique challenges that come with working on these types of properties and are committed to preserving their historic significance while also ensuring they meet modern-day standards.

Our primary task when working on protected buildings is to conduct thorough research. This includes understanding the building’s history, its original materials, and any previous alterations that may have been made. By having a comprehensive understanding of the property, we can make informed decisions about how to approach the project.

When it comes to making changes or renovations to a protected building or heritage-listed property, we always strive to maintain its original character. This means using materials that are sympathetic to the property’s age and style. For example, if we need to replace windows or doors, we will use traditional materials such as timber rather than modern PVCu.

Another important technique we use is careful planning and project management. Working on protected buildings requires a high level of attention to detail and precision. We work closely with our clients to establish clear goals for the project and develop a detailed plan for execution. This helps us ensure that all work is carried out efficiently and effectively without compromising the integrity of the property.

In AONB areas, we take additional precautions to protect the surrounding environment. This includes minimising disruption as much as possible during construction and using eco-friendly materials where appropriate.

Ultimately, our goal at Chalk Creatives is to preserve historic properties while also ensuring they meet modern-day needs. By combining careful research, sympathetic materials, precise planning, and environmental consideration into our approach when working on protected properties in AONBs or heritage-listed buildings , we’re able to deliver projects that exceed expectations while staying true to each building’s unique character.
