Chalk Sponsors Education Estates Awards
By Alex WardChalk Sponsors International Project of the Year at the Education Estates® Awards 2025
Chalk is proud to sponsor the International Project of the Year at this year’s Education Estates® Awards — a category that celebrates global excellence in the design and delivery of new school, college, or university buildings beyond the UK and Ireland.
This award recognises the powerful role education design plays in shaping outcomes around the world—something we feel strongly about at Chalk. While our expertise is rooted in the UK, we are always interested in seeing how UK design thinking and innovation can be applied in international territories to create inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready learning environments.
We’re also delighted to share that Tom Barnes, Design Director at Chalk, has been invited to serve on the 2025 judging panel. Tom is an award-winning architectural, interior, and FF&E SEND designer with an outstanding portfolio spanning the education, residential, and social care sectors. Since joining Chalk in 2015, he has led the design and delivery of high-profile, regulation-aligned projects that blend creativity, compliance, and care.
Renowned for developing innovative, cost-effective SEND design solutions, Tom’s work balances function, flexibility, and aesthetics. He is a pioneer in Building Information Modelling at Chalk and continues to push the boundaries of FF&E design and manufacture—maintaining Chalk’s position as a market leader in the education sector.
His deep knowledge of joinery, construction methods, and stakeholder collaboration ensures that every design not only looks right but works brilliantly. We’re proud to support this award—and even prouder to see Tom helping to shape the future of international education design.
Chalk wishes all entrants the very best of luck and looks forward to an evening of celebration, inspiration, and valuable connections.
